Gone But Not Forgotten: Local Women of the Last Century who made history
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Exhibition and WebsiteGONE But Not Forgotten tells the story of some women who fought for Irish Independence from the area, which today is known as Dún Laoghaire Rathdown. The women profiled here were judges, writers, educators, social activists, freedom fighters, spies, county council officials and politicians. These women contributed to the Irish fight for independence during the Revolutionary years – during the 1916 Rising, War of Independence and Civil War – at times it was both ‘unladylike’ and 'disreputable’ to be involved in such activities.
